This includes troubleshooting problems at the first level of technical support staff unable to solve and troubleshoot some system errors and problems. Generally IT also trains support staff dealing with hardware and software related to corporate systems.

Establish and maintain network security

It is of paramount importance for businesses to maintain network security so that their systems can work properly. To achieve this, IT generally monitors network security regularly, evaluates existing security programs, updates anti-virus programs and conducts checks to ensure network integrity.

Follow disaster and recovery plans

Businesses should always be prepared for power outages, upheavals, and other disasters that could adversely affect their data and computer systems. Generally IT creates, implements and maintains recovery plans to ensure that all relevant information is stored and re-accessed in an emergency.

Create activity records to upgrade and maintain

IT in general maintains a record of system maintenance and repair. You can keep track of when upgrades are available and need to be installed, when maintenance work needs to be done and improvements to the IT infrastructure.
